Smita graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, in 2006 and after three years in a busy first opinion small animal practice, she returned to Edinburgh to complete a small animal rotating internship. She remained in Edinburgh to complete a surgical internship and then a surgical residency which was completed in July 2014. Subsequently, Smita worked at Langford Veterinary Services, University of Bristol, and then at Southfields Veterinary Specialists (formerly VRCC Veterinary Referrals) in Essex for two years before moving to Davies Veterinary Specialists in March 2017.
