Caring for your pet in an emergency

Our Nursing team have filmed six videos with advice for veterinary nurses, patient care assistants and pet owners on animal first aid.
We’ve also created a helpful infographic with our top tips for caring for your pet in an emergency.
Our six-part series of videos starts with a discussion between Danielle Banks, Nichole Neate and Hannah Perry on the role of a veterinary referral nurse and why they chose to pursue a career in referral nursing. Part two of the series covers what to do when faced with an emergency first aid situation. Parts three to six cover demonstrations of how to give your dog or cat a quick examination at home and the kind of information it’s useful for your vet or veterinary nurse to know if your pet needs to see the vet. The team also demonstrate techniques for administering common medications to cats and dogs including oral tablets or liquid medicines, eye drops and ointments, and ear drops.
