Wellbeing CPD – Sleep Physiology for Veterinary Professionals

You are invited to join us for an in-person CPD session on Thursday 18th January at 7:00 pm.

We’re kicking off our CPD calendar for the new year with a focus on wellbeing for veterinary professionals, with our first CPD session of 2024 focusing on sleep physiology.

We’ve invited Guest Speaker Josh Piper, BSc mESRS, to host a session at Davies. Josh will be discussing why sleep is the most important aspect of your wellbeing and how best to prioritise sleep in a world that doesn’t want you to.

Josh has spent nearly a decade working within sleep medicine, both within the NHS and privately. More recently, this has included delivering workshops and presentations to drive improved understanding and appreciation of sleep. He’s held these for organisations ranging from Oxford University to Hitchin Football Club.

“Are there enough hours in the day to sleep and work? Should I trust Joe Rogan and wake up at 2 AM to begin a workout? Will night shifts be the death of me? This isn’t to put you to sleep, it’s to talk about it. So this won’t be a deep dive into the neurophysiology of sleep, nor will we be trying to figure out the reason why someone keeps dreaming about dogs in leopard-print pyjamas. This is to help everyone understand why we actually bother sleeping at all and, in the process, give some practical guidelines that may improve your own relationship with sleep.”

Arrival is from 7:00 pm, with complimentary drinks and finger buffet and time for an informal discussion. Talks start promptly at 7:30 pm. The session will close at 9:00 pm.

Location: Lecture Theatre, Davies Veterinary Specialists, Higham Gobion, SG5 3HR
