We can offer referred pet owners consultations remotely – via telephone or video
As the COVID-19 situation evolves, we are continually reviewing the resources we have available and the provision of services which are of most need to our referring vets, pet owners and their pets.
As a result, to allow us to focus our efforts on the pets in urgent need of our care, Davies Veterinary Specialists is physically open for urgent and emergency cases. For all other cases, assistance will be provided via telephone advice or video consultation, where available.
If you are a referring veterinary practice with a patient that requires a referral to us for veterinary attention, please call us.
We will be able to advise on how your patient can still receive the care they need and the steps you and your pet owner need to take.
We will contact pet owners that have been referred to arrange an initial consultation and this may be via telephone advice or video.
If you are a pet owner that has been referred, or a referring vet, and you have any questions please call us directly on 01582 883950 and we can advise you on the next steps.
Once you have been referred to Davies Veterinary Specialists a member of our Client Care Team will be in touch to arrange a remote consultation appointment.
The cost of the initial remote consultation will be confirmed and we would kindly ask that this is paid before your consultation.
Before your appointment there are a few steps that you will need to follow to ensure everything is set up for you ahead of time, and our Client Care Team will be in touch with all the information you need.
At Davies Veterinary Specialists the health, safety and wellbeing of our patients, our staff and our community is our number-one priority, which is why we are now providing remote consults, please be assured if it is necessary for the welfare of your pet to be seen on site, which will be discussed with the clinician, we will be able to offer this with no further initial consultation fee. Please note that due to restrictions in place for COVID-19 if a physical examination is required you will be asked to wait in your vehicle whilst the Vet undertakes the examination. Communication will then take place with you over telephone. Thank you for your patience and understanding at this challenging time.

To offer this service we have engaged with the RCVS on the current Medicines Act. In the circumstances of the coronavirus outbreak, some relaxation of these rules are permissible, such as when an owner must remain isolated at home or where treating a pet in practice is not practical and no reasonable alternative is available. Under these circumstances a video consultation can be appropriate.
Video Consultation Service terms and conditions
Our vets will be able to give general advice, help monitor and update treatment for pets already under our care. We may be able to provide veterinary attention to new cases where no other more suitable arrangements can reasonably be made. Depending on the individual circumstance of any request – the final decision to conduct a video consultation will be made by the practice.
The Video Consultation Service can only be booked once our veterinary team agree it is appropriate to do so. In the first instance you must call the practice, where the options available will be discussed with you. Any agreed video consultation must be pre-booked and is subject to availability.
Fees will be charged in line with our standard consultation fee. Payment will be taken prior to the video consultation appointment with receipts sent via email or post. Payment for any further treatments or medication will be taken after the consultation. You will need to call the practice to agree how medication can be obtained (if posted, an additional delivery charge will apply – depending on the delivery service requested).
The video consultation will take place using the technology platform Microsoft Teams. The Microsoft Teams app must be downloaded and installed prior to the consultation. Please note that use of the app is subject to your agreement to Microsoft’s terms and conditions.
