Gillian Washington – Dispensary Nurse

How long have you been at Davies?

9 months (previously 6yrs)

What does your role involve?

On a day to day basis I’m responsible for dispensing medication for all of our inpatients and out-patients, placing orders with a large range of companies and helping referring practices with queries.

How has your career progressed at Davies?

When I first joined back in 2006 I was on the general nursing rota, which meant I have worked in all areas of the practice. I progressed to working solely in dispensary three years later. I then left and spent 8 ½ years in the pharmaceutical industry before making the decision to return to Davies. Covid times had changed my job role massively and I was really struggling with not being around people. I returned to my previous role in March 2021 and am so happy being back doing a job I love. Working at Davies you are surrounded by an amazing team who are all so supportive.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

No two days are the same.

What do you like about working at Davies in general?

Working with such a fantastic team

How does flexible working help your work/ life balance?

I work part-time doing three long days a week. This means I have a great work-life balance which is exactly what I needed. I have a crazy Jack Russell Terrier who I do agility with. I’m able to train her during the week as I work part-time, we are out competing every couple of weeks.
